I know it is suggested to NOT use the iPad Calendar in conjunction with DejaCal but how about with contacts?
I'm finding it difficult to send e-mails b/c the contacts don't pull up for me to send to (assuming b/c it's pulling from the "built in" contacts from the iPad).
Is it OK to sync these two and what's the easiest route to take if so.
Thanks,
TR

Yes syncing with the Native Apple contacts is supported and recommended for the reason you mention.
Please note that the Sync with Apple contacts is a "merge". So if you turn it on the current contacts in the Apple app will sync with DejaOffice.
There are a few ways to deal with this. Typically deleting the Contacts in the Apple application first is recommended.

Let me know if you have questions about this.
