when outlook has 2 contacts with the same name, the sync doesn't work

    hi,

when outlook has 2 contacts with the same name, i.e., John Smith who is a personal friend, and a different John Smith who is a business associate, DejaOffice merges the data so that only one contact shows up on Deja Contacts. Can this be fixed?

    Thanks

CompanionLink has anti-duplication logic, and so it will merge two contacts that are (or appear to be) the same person when it syncs with DejaOffice. What you might try is adding some unique information to your John Smiths in Outlook, which will help differentiate them. For example, you could add a phone number/email address/home address for your friend. Then you would run a "reread PC" sync (this setting is in the CompanionLink "Options" drop-down menu). This should send both John Smiths over to DejaContacts.

Too bad it's not a standard thing in all these databases to pass some kind of GUID (globally unique id) as part of a record. That way, dups couldn't exist.
