what is the difference between journal and tasks?

I am syncing to gold mine, and I have what is obviously a very basic question. I did search here but did not find the answer. What is the difference between the journal and tasks? I have to do in my tasks such as calls and other activities, & I have date and time oriented entries in my calendar, but I don't understand the purpose of the journal.

    Thank you.

TBV, not many people here use GoldMine.

Journal is the same as History (Completed Items). However, I don't believe CompanionLink product will actually synchronize GoldMine History to DejaOffice Journal.

Tasks are "To Do" items from the Calendar. I think nearly all other GoldMine calendar items will go to DejaOffice Calendar.

    I hope this information helps.

thank you. Doing a sync between gold mine and DJO if it involves the History tab would be almost impossible. there are millions of history records. I just wasn't sure if that's exactly what journal was.
