    Explanation of WiFi sync requested

    Hallo!

I gave WiFi sync a try, since USB sync is broken with Samsung A52s and Android 12 (https://www.dejaoffice.com/forums/fo...g-sync-problem). Is there any uptodate manual which explains all (!) settings - eg "allow sync to start from PC"?

BTW, is it possible to start WiFi sync from the phone? PC is on, CL is running.

      Michael,

If CompanionLink is open on the PC, then you can start the sync from the device side. "Allow sync to start from the PC" was a setting we tried to allow for Wifi Auto sync after later Android OS's changed the way apps are allowed to stay in the background of the device. If the App gets closed on the mobile side, the sync can not connect, and since Auto sync is triggered from the PC side this option was an attempt to allow for this. Currently we have disabled the option so enabling this right now doesn't do anything. The only settings that matter for Wifi sync are the IP address and the Device name (which is something DejaOffice generates), all other functions are the same as USB sync.

what do you mean with "open"? Is running in the background - tray-symbol at the task bar - enought? If not, this should be a changeable setting.

GUI elements without function should at least set to invisible, shouldn't they?

          MG11,

If CompanionLink is in the system tray or "open" to the main menu the Mobile device can connect to the PC when syncing from DejaOffice. Having an icon on the Task bar is not enough, but a System Tray icon is. There is an option for Run At Startup on the CompanionLink Advanced Settings.

We are going to revisit the setting. At the moment it does nothing so there is no harm in the check box.

I found the reason, why my sync can't be started from the phone: WiFi is a different network which is reachable FROM the PC through the firewall, but devices in the WiFi network can't connect to any device in the LAN (for security reasons).
