DejaOffice /w CompanionLink or VCOrganizer Pro?

I'm on a 14 day trial period. While price isn't a issue, Features are vital to the purchase decision.

I'm considering between DejaOffice and VCOrganizer Pro.

I love the forum community here at DejaOffice. But VCOrganizer Pro has encryption, Bluetooth Sync, device side initiated sync and all the widgets already.

While I am personally satisfied with the UI so far, DejaOffice's limitation of WiFi PC Side initiated sync, REALLY defeats the purpose of the wirelessNESS, since you have to be within arms length of the PC anyways.

I've already mentioned WiFi autosync feature is a waste of battery power, that is better implemented thru Bluetooth.

On paper from syncdroid.net, it seems VCOrganizer Pro has more features (as mentioned above) for a fraction of the price. But DejaOffice seems to have a responsive support system including a forum and a live phone service.

This would not be as difficult a decision if DejaOffice was free of sync bugs (as mentioned in my other posts), as one can wait for the missing features such as widgets (which are only now starting to be available in beta form).

Any comments appreciated, biased or not.

    klau,

We're working hard to put out new features for DejaOffice - in fact, many of the features you mentioned above are things we are actively looking at implementing. As for the higher cost, you're right - it allows us to offer live phone support as well as maintain a forum like this one.

One of the reasons we set up these forums was to get feedback like yours. It helps us know what features our users want most, which allows us to prioritize more effectively. Our goal is to provide the best product and the best support possible.

I hope that I can help make your decision a bit easier by letting you know that we know these feature requests are out there, and that we're listening! If you have any more questions or suggestions, do let us know!

I noticed that this is an older post, and also that there will be another increase in price June 1st. Price is not so much of an issue, as I realize if I pay for something I would be getting more value, but I still don't want to miss out.

Anyways, have any of these bugs and issues been rectified in recent history?

What are the major differences and benefits of using this service vs VCOrganizer? I just want to know what additional value I am getting by using this service? ( i plan to do a trial version soon to eveluate this for myself, but I will still not be able to compere)

        saskadan,

We've released a number of updates since February, fixing a variety of bugs and adding new features. For example, DejaOffice for Android now features widgets, secure sync (secured by AES-256 bit encryption), and more. If there is a specific bug you have experienced, or if you have specific features that you're looking for, let me know.

As for our software vs. VCOrganizer Pro? Well, obviously I'm a bit biased but a few features we offer that they do not is sync support for Outlook subfolders, no limit on contact note length, and free phone support. I encourage you to give our free trial a go and let us know here if you have any feedback!

Are there still ads on the paid version? Can these be removed? What are the major issues people are having with the sync? Is there anything I should specifically be aware of and fully use during this trial period?

Technically, yes - there are still ads in DejaOffice. That said, they show less frequently and you can still disable them in the General Settings.

The biggest issues with sync arise when you miss some important first steps. I'd suggest taking a look at http://www.companionlink.com/gettingstarted/ for some quick tips on how to get going properly.

During your trial, just be sure to test the program to ensure our software works in the way that you need. We have some great tips and tricks that we share on our blog (http://www.companionlink.com/blog/), so I'd suggest reading through some recent posts if you're looking for specific ways to get the most out of CompanionLink/DejaOffice. Here's a few specific posts to get you started:

            Hope that helps!

              Hi Saskadan,

This is a minor point, but one I feel should be clarified. At this time there is no "paid" version of DejaOffice. It is a free download for everyone.
A number of paid CompanionLink customers have posted in the DejaOffice forums regarding the ads expressing that they have paid for DejaOffice.
They have purchased CompanionLink, which offers numerous industry leading synchronization functions that are completely independent of DejaOffice.
Since DejaOffice was released we have documented very carefully, on the DejaOffice website, that eventually there would be a paid version available when adds were introduced.
So far all we have done is release a version with adds that can easily be turned off.

              I hope this information helps.

                Paying for DJO

                Hello everybody,

Just a short notice to share my thoughts about DJO. I have seen many complaints about the ads issue but nobody mentions the positive aspects.

I use DJO to organize my personal life as well as my business life. It makes me save a lot of hassle and money. It is only fair to pay for such a tool and I am willing to pay for DJO.

Now, of course, we have already paid for Companionlink, so the payment policy of DJO is open for discussion and maybe needs changing but I for once have to say that (besides making calls) this is the most valuable app I have on my phone (and I have many).

                Thanks for that!

                Miguel

I have to say I jumped ship and for several months have been using VC Organiser Pro.
It's not as pretty as DJO and the UI is dull and uninspiring but it always syncs perfectly, and that for me is what counts.
However, I'm back with DJO to see how it's doing now.
Syncing still seems a case of pot luck as to how reliable it is but I'll give it some time to prove itself.
