DEJA Today widget shows appointments for tomorrow!

    Hi,

HTC Desire, Android 2.2, DJO V1.11.7

Today (Monday 30th is a bank holiday and I have no appointments entered in DJO. However I do have one for tomorrow (Tue 31st). The Today Widget shows the correct day and date (i.e. Monday 30th etc) BUT it lists the appointment for Tuesday (Displays 08:00 - xxxxx xx xxx xxx xx xx xxx etc etc) without indicating that it is for Tuesday!

    Hello Nelson,

Sorry if this is causing you any grief. Is this behavior only occurring in the Widget or is it also in DejaToday?

      Thomas -

I can confirm similar behavior on my Motorola Droid (Froyo 2.2, DJO 1.11.7). I have 2 recurring calendar appointments every Monday through Friday, one at 11am and the other at 4pm. When viewing DejaToday earlier this afternoon, I noticed that the two appointments were listed in reverse order (4pm appointment appearing before the 11am appointment). When I tapped on each of the appointments to view the details, I then noticed that while the 4pm appointment was for the current day (in this case, May 31st), the 11am appointment was actually for tomorrow 06/01/11.

To validate that this was not a single day occurrence, I switched the device clock in to manual mode and adjusted the system date to read tomorrow 06/01. I then opened DejaToday and witnessed the same behavior - my 4pm meeting appeared correctly and was dated 06/01, however the 11am appointment now showed a date of 06/02. Switching the system clock back to automatic reverted to the previous behavior.

Hope this helps in the troubleshooting!

I'm having the same problem. I have htc evo on sprint and in the today screen there is an appointment for tomorrow showing up instead of todays. there is also no indication that its for tomorrow and to find out i have to click on it. Am I missing something here as I have it set to show for the next 7 days and there is only one appt for the next day and there is nothing else and also no dates are showing up.

          Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the precise reporting on this. I am running some tests in house today. What you all reported here is very helpful. My laundry list below is not required,
Calendar Date/Time issues are tricky. The more info the better. You can never tell me too much about the event(s) affected.
          Feel free to add:
          Sync Method
PIM (Outlook, ACT! Lotus Notes, SalesForce, Palm Desktop, Etc..)
Was the event(s) generated on the PC or phone. If it was on the Phone was it in Native Calendar or DejaCal? (Google and Microsoft calculate calendar event times using different mathematical formula's.)
Was the event originally an email meeting invitation?
Was the behavior noted in your home time zone or were you traveling and in a different time zone?
If you were traveling, was your phone set to calculate time and time zone via the network or manually?
If syncing while traveling, are you syncing via Secure Hosted Server or with your Laptop locally?
If syncing with your LapTop, is your PC set to the Same Time Zone as your phone?
Was the event being reported ever edited or changed on your PC or on your phone?
All of the details above can have an affect on Calendar Date Time problems.

              Hello isthegeek,

If you are changing Sync methods (example switching from USB to WiFi) always do a Purge n Reload All. The sync methods use different algorithms and the data needs to be reload for there to be full data integrity. Ideally you want to pick one method and stick to it unless you have no choice but to change sync methods. Tinkering around with Sync methods is not a good idea unless it is needed. I do not suggest doing it to simply evaluate performance, preference, or to indulge curiosity unless you are using test data or have thoroughly backed up all your data.

I have followed your advice and have decided to stick with the wifi sync. It wasnt working before so I was forced to do usb. I would like to use wifi from now on and would like for the process to be automatic. Could you point me into the right direction for steps on how to sync via wifi and automating the process?

                Thanks in advance!

                  Hello isthegeek,
At this time Auto Sync is not supported in conjunction with WiFi Sync. You have to press the sync button in DejaOffice to Sync via WiFi.

As for the date issue; it is the design of DejaToday to show you your next few "business hours". So after noon on a given day, it will start showing you the following morning.

So this particular functionality was intentional? If so, may I ask what the business case was to justify this behavior? While in concept I understand the desire to see upcoming events, this particular sub-app within DJO is named "DejaToday" which, at least in my mind, tend to indicate that the information it displays is relevant to the current day (i.e., today) and only the current day.

From the user's perspective, I find the display of information other than the current day to be quite distracting in this instance. The DejaToday application is similar to the "Agena" option I used extensively on my old Palm Treo 755p, and with recent updates to DJO I have found DejaToday to be quite useful. However, glancing at my schedule for the day and having to open appointments to confirm if they are for the current day or the next day is frustrating to say the least. For example, in the scenario I outlined in my previous message I had an appointment for 4pm the following day display BEFORE an appointment for 11am on the current day, which was obviously concerning.

If the intent is to retain this behavior in the DejaToday app, I would like to make the suggestion that an optional switch be installed in the "Settings" area which would permit the user to limit displayed data to only the current day when enabled, or use the current logic when disabled. This would be the best of both worlds since it would permit the user to customize the display behavior even further to fit their specific needs.

                      Thanks for listening.

I think if this concept is to work it should only change data after midnight, or at least after the end of the working day as set in Outlook.
After a break from DJO to allow some problems to be ironed out I opened "Today" for the first time yesterday and spent ages fiddling with settings trying to work out why it was displaying the next days' events.

                          Hello BamBam,

I did use this feature on my Treo 650.
I have made a screenshot to clarify.
                          treo650screenshot.jpg

It lists today's appointments and tasks (due and overdue) in bold letters and when there is enough space will also list the appointments on the next day etc in normal letters. But in chronological order and if the appointment is for tomorrow it will have writen Tomorrow above.
That made it clear and you didn;t have to open an appointment to know for which day it was.

I really liked this feature because it is good to know when your next appointment is if you don't have any today.
Maybe this could be an option in the settings.
But what I miss the most is to have the option to have my overdue and my due tasks on DJToday.
Since the task I didn't finish yesterday still need to be finished today or at least a.s.p.

                          Regards,
                          Alexandra

I used something very similar on my WM5 device before Android. That gave a very good and quick overview over upcoming appointments, events and ToDo's. It had a setting that allowed to set how far in the future it should look and list items.
