Deja Office fails to identify or supply option for inputing Calendar Account

Using the setup wizard, it identifies my Google Account just fine for contacts. However, it shows a blank for my calendar account (same account) and if I try to get it to let me select an account, the screen fades and it shows a blank black bar that I can't do anything with. Same if I try later in sync settings. So the Calendar in Outlook is syncing to DO, but none of it is going into the native calendar database for other apps to use. As I say, contacts works just fine.

I have tried reinstalling and have even deleted the Clusb folder on my SD card and let the program recreate it. Nothing seems to work.

    My setup is:

    HTC Nexus One
    Rooted & Unlocked
    Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) Build GRI40
    ROM: Cyanogen-7.0.3-N1

    Thanks in advance
DejaOffice PC CRM Standalone, Windows 10 Home Version ver. 1909, DejaOffice 4.4.31 (Android),
F(X) Tec Pro1, 6 GB RAM, 128 GB Internal, 256 GB External, Horizontal Slider Keyboard!!, Android 9
Samsung Galaxy Tab S, 3 GB Ram, 16GB Internal, 128GB External, BT Keyboard, LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2)
DejaCloud Sync (PC and phone), USB Sync (Tablet).

    Hello Hook,

So sorry to hear you are running into this problem.
Technically we can't try to reproduce this behavior in our lab because we only support non rooted Android devices running OEM ROM configurations.
However, if any users out there have input for hook I encourage them to share it.

I have two questions just for clarity:
    1. Is this a gmail account you are trying to sync with?
    2. DO any accounts display in the DejaOffice Calendar sync account settings? You may have to choose a different account to sync with.

I understand the part about rooting as a technicality, but I can assure you my phone behaves in every way as an Nexus One with Gingerbread.

      1. This is a Gmail account, the same one Contact's uses successfully.
      2. No accounts display. The grey buttony thing is blan and when you press it to select an acoount, that's when the screen fades and a black bar appears-- I assume the black bar is where a list of accounts, if it found them, would be displayed.

If both Calendar and contacts failed to find an account, I might be more likely to suspect my phone. The fact that Contacs finds it just fine and Calendar doesn't seems bizarre.

        Hook-

Most likely Cyanogen modified the native calendar in some way that prevents DejaOffice from recognizing the calendar accounts. Even though it might seem bizarre that contacts are working and calendar isn't, they simply aren't the same under the hood. We spend a lot of time ensuring that DejaOffice works with all the various OEM customizations, so it isn't surprising that a custom ROM may tweak things here and there.

Okay, I can see we aren't going to get past this "blaming it on the ROM" game. I have used many different calendar apps --Pocket Informant, Pimlical/A, Goosync, and none have any problems. As far as I know (and I'm pretty confident on this) CyanogenMod does not alter the Google stuff. In fact, working with Google, they don't include the Google apps and have ou flash the apps in a bundle supplied by Google for legal reasons.

Guess I'm just back to waiting for Pocket informant to implement direct Outlook sync.

            Hook,

We do not test or support the environment you are operating in. I can understand that may be disappointing. We are busy enough attempting to keep the OEM Android world up to date with all of the dynamic changes happening daily.
If you want to provide the information I requested I will provide some due diligence on this matter as far as we can take it on our end.
I am still not clear what account you are trying to sync to, or if you have any options at all to select in the Calendar account setting field, and I do not have the ROM to check it myself.

I did supply the information you requested. I am trying to sync to the only gmail/google account on the phone. Contacts finds it, Calendar doesn't.

This is Deja Office. The sync is fine-- calendar items get to the DO database, just not to the android calendar data base.

I understand there are a lot of variables in any Android phone. I don't expect you to support my ROM. All I ever asked was that you look at the problem from the perspective of a Nexus One running Gingerbread. If you can't find or reproduce the problem, fine, I'm on my own. At least you tried to support your customer.

What I didn't expect is to be dismissed with, "Oh, you've rooted, can't help you."

I appreciate your at least trying to look at it, Thomas.

                Hook,
I am grasping at straws but here goes:
Have you tried creating any calendar entries in the Native Calendar app?
Have you tried adding a new account to phone to see if it will detect a different account?
What version of DejaOffice are you running? 1.11.9 or 1.12.0beta?
Have you tried both versions with the same result?

Sometimes, grasping at straws works. Thank you Thomas. I'm using 1.11.9, by the way.

It was your second suggestion that led me to the answer. When I went to the native app to create an appointment (seemed a reasonable ting to try) I was told I had no calendars. I realized what the problem probably was. In my attempt to follow the "clean data bases" suggestion you make in Sync 101, rather than just doing a purge sync, I had wiped the android data bases of data. This apparently didn't create a problem with the contacts data base, but left the Android system (as much as DO) unable to identify the calendar account.

Solution: re-engaged Google sync just for the calendar and then disabled it again. This allowed me to set the account for calendar sync and I did another sync with purge set for the calendar.

                  All seems to be working.

Thanks so much. I supply the rooting and ROM information specifically so you don' beat your heads against the wall with a problem that isn't yours. However, most of the time the Root and ROM won't make a difference. This was just old fashioned operator error.

Really, thanks for keeping at it. It really helped.

Awesome news! So glad it helped! I merely added the support disclaimer so there would be no mis understandings if we were unable to attempt reproducing.
Glad we got this working. Enjoy!
