I would suggest A Purge and Reload of the Notes Data.
Open CompanionLink Setup.
Navigate to the Applications Tab in your PIM (Data Manger App) settings.
Click the Purge and Reload Notes Checkbox. (Warning this will dletes all Memos data in DejaOffice and then re-sync the Memos form your PC desktop.)
Sync your phone.

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work. I've even tried manually deleting every memo and creating a memo on the device but when I tap on the memo item I get a force close.

You may wish to try a Purge and Reload All from CompanionLink.
Our initial attempts to launch Dejaoffice with your data file loaded were not successful. Working in this matter now.

That didn't work. Neither did uninstalling and reinstalling.
