    Deleting database

I want to delete it all completely to clean out contacts so tried the instructions in the thread "How do I delete multiple contacts at the same time?". As directed I typed in the word "reset" from the DejaOffice main screen using the s/w keyboard and hit the "Go" key but it stuck there. Do I have to do more? I am using the latest release of DJO.

    RonT,

    Thanks for posting.

The "Latest" general release of DejaOffice is 2.1.5. Can you please confirm this is the version installed on your device?
Please look at the note in my signature and update yours accordingly. I have to track a lot of moving parts to help folks and the basics in the signature really helps me be accurate and respond faster.

Lets define what "it" means a little clearer.
Do you wish to delete the DejaOffice Contacts Data? The Android Contacts Data? Or all the Data in DejaOffice?

      Thomas,

Thanks for the response. I was trying to solve the problem that apparently not all the entries in the DO Contacts folder were being deleted when I did a CL sync of Outlook to DO Contacts with a wipe of destination folder before sync. I have now proved that those unwanted entries are coming from Outlook so that is where my problem lies and I have to solve that. Sorry to have taken your time for something which is not a DO problem.

Incidentally I am using DO 2.1.5.

I looked to setting up a signature so that next time I can easily give full info when making a post but couldn't see how to do it. Please guide me on this.

      Many thanks,
      Ron

I would suggest updating to DejaOffice 2.1.6 for this situation.
We have fixed an issue that may be affecting this situation.

            Hello,
I have multiple duplicates in both my DO and my Outlook contacts. For independent reasons, I have had to reset my phone to factory settings. I thought I would take the opportunity to clean my Outlook contacts and import them afresh into DO.
I was quite surprised to find out that, after resetting my phone and reinstalling DO, and without syncing with anything, all my previous contacts were still there on my phone! I wonder where they come from. (Android Contacts are empty as they should be)
Anyway, I would like to delete them all in order to import the clean contacts from Outlook. I have tried the suggestions proposed in previous posts:
            - typing reset on the DO main window will not work for me (a keyboard never appears).
            - reinstalling DO does not remove the contacts
            - going into Android's Settings/Managing applications/DejaOffice and deleting all the data does not delete anything. My contacts are still there in DO (and calendar too).
Where are those contacts hidden? On the SD card? I have looked there but couldn't find them. Any help will be appreciated.

                Ramus,

DejaOffice stores data on SDCard not internal memory. That is why the Wipe and Restore did not delete your DejaOffice data. That is expected behavior.

                Two ways to fix this.
                1. Execute a Wipe all records on Android Device when Syncing with CompanionLink will delete the current Dejaoffice database on reload all the data fresh from outlook. (Recommeded)

                2. Connect your Android Device as Hard drive to your PC. Delete the CLUSB folder form the SDCard. That will completely reset DejaOffice to square one. You will be prompted to run the setup wizard in DejaOffice after disconnecting form the PC and opening DejaOffice.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Don't wish to confuse things, but this statement is not always true. Some Samsung models and other brands as well that have large portions of internal memory will identify that internal memory to the system as the SD card (that is, the internal user memory will be located in the folder /SDCARD). When Deja Office installs, it installs /CLUSB in the folder /SDCARD as always, but that means it ends up in internal memory. My Galaxy Player is like this as is a number of other Smartphone models.

It doesn't change the instructions Thomas gave above, just simply that for number 2, make sure you check internal memory if you cant find the folder in external memory.

The Android usage/naming is rather confusing and you are indeed corrrect as they refer to internal memory as SDCARD. The CLUSB is created there. Some apps use sdcard/sdcard2 but some use sdcard/ext_sdcard. The standard Android recovery memory has an option to "Install Update from SDCARD" but that means or only works if the "update.pkg" in on the physical external SD card.

A bit OT and confusing which I've mention elsewhere before, for whatever strange reason a NanDroid backup(ClockWorkMod, etc.) will not restore the CLUSB folder! You can always just resync from your PC but what if you don't use CL or are away from your PC??

Android platform has numerous exceptions to every rule.
