First names containing spaces are split into first/middle names - why?

    More annoyances...

I have a friend who is Chinese, and her name is of the form "Ming Lee Fong" (not her real name :-) ).

"Lee" is not her middle name, but part of her first name. Her first name is "Ming Lee".

When I sync Palm Desktop -> Outlook, the sync splits this into First + Middle name, but that's not what I want. Since Palm Desktop doesn't have a middle-name field, I suppose this is reasonable for lack of any other info, but it would be nice if I could tell CompanionLink or DejaOffice NOT to split it in this way.

Is there any way I can prevent this, short of using a non-space character between pieces of a first name?
