DJO contacts do not sync w native android

Samsung Galaxy S3. Phone recently had an android upgrade. Running Android version 4.3. Looks like the sync from DJO contacts to native Android has stopped working at some point recently (has been working flawlessly for several months).

    Here is what happens:

I create a new contact in DJO. I can access the contact from DJO. Contact does not appear in native android app.

In Sync Settings - sync djo with contacts app is enabled; contact categories to Android contact groups is enabled; sync all categories is set
    Contact account is DejaOffice

In native contact app, I have synced several times today (Contacts -sync settings - DejaOffice - tap on "Sync calendar"), no updates

    Running DJO 2.5.7 (518)

    Thanks

    Hi

Might be worth doing a hard reset on the phone. DJOCTO suggested this to resolve a timing issue with my alarms.

I switched off the phone and took out the battery just to make sure. When I restarted the phone I got message saying "completing upgrade " (or words to that effect). I had followed all the on screen instructions during the upgrade.

As our phones are similar it may be worth trying this. I don't sync to the native apps so I can't give more specific advice.

    Hope this helps
    Cecil

If you sync with Companionlink, I recommend completing a reread of the PIM data to get the native sync functioning properly again.

      1. Open CompanionLink Setup.
      2. Select 'Options.'
      3. Select 'Reread Outlook data' on next sync. (For example)
      4. Perform a synchronization like normal.

Let us know if you're using DejaOffice as a standalone app or if the steps above don't resolve the issue.

        Still doesn't sync

The problem continues, I didn't spend any time on this in the last month or so. I have several records in DJO contacts that don't show up in native contact app.

Today, I upgraded CompanionLink to v6 (build 6008) and the Android DJO to 2.5.8 (531). Device is a Samsung Galaxy S3, running Android 4.3. I then synced with CompanionLink (including the option to read Outlook records). Outlook (on my PC) now displays these DJO contacts, and they can also be accessed from DJO. However, in the android native app, it doesn't show up.

The inconvenience is that: if the record is not accessible in the native Android contact app, then features like displaying the caller's name don't work - the native phone app merely shows the caller's number.

Any ideas or thoughts on how to make djo sync with the native app? BTW, I am a long time user, never had this problem before. Thanks

          Number of contacta

If it helps any, I have a little over 1200 contacts in DJO. Are there any limits on the number of contacts, for sync to work?

ramak12, there is no record limitation, and in our view 1200 is not a very large number.

This is not likely to be the problem. The problem most likely is that the records are "there" but not showing for some reason, or are deleted (i.e. deleted items in the database are there but don't show).

On your Android Contact App, what Account are you using?

On your Android Contact App, pop the menu key, and then choose Display Options. Make sure all Accounts are selected to show.

If all your data is on the PC, a "Wipe" from the PC will probably set it all right. However, I don't really like this option unless it is really needed. Let's see if we can identify the problem first.

              Resolved!

It got resolved, but hard to explain how it got resolved. Hopefully, this will give you some ideas as you refine the product.

              1. Synced contacts with PC (USB, CompanionLink). DJO has ~1200 contacts, native Android had 897 contacts, none of the new contacts were in native Android

              2. To "force" a sync, on DJO, tried Settings -> DejaContact Settings -> Merge Duplicate records. I have no dupes, the system read all records, etc., and then appeared to sync (if i tried to exit, it gave me a "sync in progress" kind of message). Did this a couple of times, no change in native Android contacts

              3. Synced contacts with PC (USB, CompanionLink), this time with the "wipe Android records" option. No change in the native Android contacts.

              3. Deleted all the native Android contacts (from Applications manager). There was 720KB of data in the database. As soon as I deleted, I noticed that the database was created again with ~720KB of data. Now, I had no contacts at all in native Android - that was an anxious moment. Tried syncing several times by tapping on the account, nothing

              4. Deleted all accounts from contact app (DejaOffice and a gmail account), deleted all the native Android contacts (from Applications manager). Still nothing in the native contacts.

              5. Manually added a contact from the native contact app; it took me to DJO, and now this alone was displayed in contacts! Deleted this lone account in DJO, confirmed that it got deleted on the native app.

              6. Synced again contacts with PC (USB, CompanionLink), with the "wipe Android records" option. Once this sync was over, after a few minutes went to the contacts app... and... the native app was displaying all the contacts, including the recent ones.

I am glad it worked somehow. It would be helpful if you could build a utility that will wipe all native records and rebuild it from DJO. A long time ago, I recall there was a widget called "Read Android data", i think. I don't have it any more in my DJO build. Something like that may be useful, in a future version.

              Thanks

                I'm glad it got resolved.

Read Android data shows at certain times. I'll check with the developer to make sure it makes sense.
