Any DJO Tech Support people there? "DJO Could not locate your database" Help!

    Hi All,

I have a Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.2. For the 2nd time I have the error "Dejaoffice could not locate your database." I'm using DJO 2.5.7 I think.

    Help!

I've made dozens of entries and I don't want to lose them all. How do I fix this? Please respond soon!

I did a google search and searched the DJO forums and didn't find anything relevant.

    Thanks,

    Advait

A little more information please (I'm not tech support, just trying to help. Tech support is not really in on week-ends, although they will sometimes show up). You say this has happened a "second time" Does that mean that after the first time, your data showed up again? Did it do so after this second time?

When this happens, what hapens next? Does Deja Office close? Do you get a dialog box offering choices? If so, what are those choices and which do you take? Or do you get the setup wizard screen?

Is this happening by any chance when you first boot up the phone and try to open Deja Office?

Is your data only in Deja Office or are you using Companion Link to sync your data from a PC?

We'll start with those questions and see where it gets us.

OK, thanks for your reply. I have a new Nexus 5 (my 1st Android phone) with Android 4.4.2 and DJO 2.5.7 with CL Build 6008 on my Win7 Pro pc. I'm syncing to my Outlook 2007 on my pc.

The first time the error showed up I also lost my recent entries. When it happens DJO simply stops working. All the buttons become totally non-responsive. I had to "Restore From Backup". The backup did not have my recent entries so I lost data. Its only happened twice so I can't tell why it's happening. Not enough data points to say.

This is the 2nd time its happened in 3 days ("DJO could not locate your database"). I sent the issue to CL and they replied saying I should switch from USB mass Storage Sync to WiFi Sync. They said all my entries are lost and I have to re-enter them. They said wifi sync is more reliable than USB Mass Storage Sync. I set up the wifi sync and it seems to work ok (the USB Mass Storage sync also always worked OK). I asked the CL tech these questions:

      * Why is Wifi Sync more reliable than USB Mass Storage sync in terms of minimizing DJO database corruption? Is it a lot more reliable than USB sync? Or just a little bit more reliable?

      * When I'm out and about and away from my pc, can I copy the "clusb" directory to another directory on my Android as a backup? Then if my DJO database gets corrupted, then could I just overwrite the corrupted db files with the backed up files?

I'd love to get these questions answered! Any DJO tech support people know the answers?

I'm using CL Trial Version. But I can't purchase it if my DJO db is going to get corrupted all the time. I'll need to find another product if my DJO db is going to get corrupted all the time.

I'd like to use DejaCloud but its $14/month. Too much!

      Thanks!

The trouble with Mass Storage USB sync is that, ever since Android 4.0, Android no longer attaches to yur computer as a mass storage device. If you wantto use USB sync, use the DejaConnect USB method. It is a little more trouble to set up, but is very reliable.

You can copy your CLUSB folder as an additional backup. Just get a file manager app (there are many). Create a folder called "Backup" or whatever you want nd either copy the CLUSB folder to it as a subfolder or copy the contents of CLUSB to it.

By the way, Deja Cloud is $14 for 3 months. Also, check with them. I believe you get a period of time for free when you purchase Companion Link.

I do understand your hesitancy, but the CL folks should be able to help you work out these problems. There is no better program out there for syncing Outlook with Android and although their staff is small they are eager to help. Contact them on Monday with your questions (they are on Pacific time).

I have been able to use USB mass storage on my Samsung S3 mini . I found a trick on a Samsung forum. Windows wants to look on the internet for a driver and it does make a good choice. The trick is to download the Samsung driver as part of Kies. Disconnect the computer from the internet. Uninstall any drivers for the phone before reconnecting the phone. The computer will now install the driver it has already available instead trying to find one it thinks is better.

I am about to move to a new PC shortly and don't think I will bother with Kies.

OK, thanks! The CL tech support person said that wifi sync is the most reliable so I switched to that yesterday and it seems to be working good. And I'm now periodically backing up my clusb directory to a backup directory on my Android. I'm using the ES File Explorer which is a nice program.

$14 for 3 months is not bad. I plan to purchase CL at the end of my trial period and I'll experiment with DejaCloud during the free trial period.

The CL tech support guy was great. I was impressed with how he took ownership of my problem and gave me a good solution (and least it seems good since yesterday; my fingers are crossed).

            Cheers,

OK, thank you Cecil for the info. Switching to wifi sync seems to solve the problem. And the wifi sync is more convenient that having to always plug in a USB cable, so I like that.

              Cheers,

Advait, I'm glad that worked out. Unfortunately our team has been battling this flu thing, so various people have been absent and are out today. I'm happy the community jumped in.
