DejaOffice could not locate your database

Yesterday, Verizon updated my Galaxy s3 to Android version 4.4.2. Now when I open DejaOffice, I get the message "DejaOffice could not locate your database" with three options, "Try Again" which doesn't work, "Restore a backup", and "Create a new database". I have a backup using CompanionLink, which is set to primarily move data from the phone to the computer. What should I do?

Where is your CLUSB folder located?

You can wait until some of the other Samsung and G3 users here stop by, but in the meantime, if your CLUSB folder is located on your SD card, try copying it to your internal storage and see what happens when you start DejaOffice. I think I have heard that 4.4.2 on the SG3 changes how you can use the SD card, but I don't know specifically. I'm thinking maybe Deja Office is being forced to look in internal memory.

Of course, it might also be that there is a problem with the SD card, coincident with the update. You can also try removing and reinserting the SD card and see if that helps.

Again, just shooting in the dark, but not an expert on the SG3, so you might want to wait for others.

First thing I would try is simply to restart your phone.

If that doesn't work, uninstall DJO then restart your phone again, then reinstall DJO, hopefully this should reconnect DJO to the database. This does not affect your database in any way.

If this does not work use a file manager, or connect your phone to your PC and Explorer, to rename your CLUSB folder to OLDCLUSB (or similar) . This should be located in \sdcard (it is on my S3 mini) . You can always rename it back later if you want to.

Once you have done this try uninstall/restart phone/reinstall again. Your database will be repopulated when you sync to your computer. Hopefully your computer has recent backup.

The phone restarts are just to cover all the bases.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Cecil. Only the last option worked. I had backed up the phone a week ago, so I didn't lose too much.

Happy you got things sorted out.

I would probably have simply deleted the clusb folder but I was not comfortable telling you to go straight for the nuclear option!

Give it a few days, once you are happy you can delete the renamed file to tidy things up.

One way to "remove" the clsub folder, without deleting it, is to rename it.

            Just rename it to "x-clusb".

This makes it invisible to any computer program, but it is easy to "get it back" too.
