Latest DejaOffice for Android update shows constant alarm icon in status bar

Recently, I kept seeing the "alarm clock" icon appear in the status icon side of the status bar (right side).

I had no idea what was causing it - I wasn't seeing any alarms in the notifications, etc.

After it had been this way all day, I went through my apps, one by one, force-closing them, to see which one was controlling the alarm clock icon.

    Turns out it was DejaOffice.

If I open DejaOffice, no alarms/notifications are shown. If I pull down the notification area, no notifications are shown.

I just see a constant alarm icon on the status bar.

This seems to be a bug. Can you look into this?

        Tim,

This was an intentional change to adhere to way Android wants DejaOffice to store alarms.

The old way was potentially causing some App Not Responding issues with some devices and this was an effort to resolve that. We are researching this on our end to see if this is the case. If not we will look into returning to the original method or see if we can add an option to use the older method.

I had a hunch this might be the case. Thanks for reply here with those details.

            Thomas...

Thanks for your reply; but what is the purpose of showing an alarm status icon, when there is no actual alarm?

That's what's happening to me. No alarm is fired, but the alarm icon is showing. I open DejaOffice, and still see no alarm, no notifications at all.

            Questions:

            1. Shouldn't the alarm icon only show if an alarm fires?
            2. Shouldn't the alarm icon go away once all alarms have been dispelled?

It seems like the alarm icon is just -there-, and can't be dispelled, and it's not actually tied to the alarm state of DejaOffice.

              Tim,

Checking our resources, it looks like the change did not have any effect on those App Not Responding report we were seeing. We have reverted the Alarms to the old method. We will be putting this build on the Official Play Store beta Monday, then posting it as the new Official build the following Monday. If you would like to install this build now. On the Phone use the following link to run a direct update to DejaOffice:

              https://www.dejaoffice.com/androidap...DejaOffice.apk

Some phone browsers can have some trouble downloading the file, so if the "Chrome" browser does not work, try downloading with the "Internet" Browser.

Once downloaded tap the Download Complete notification to open the installer and choose Install\Update. When the install is finished, reopen and confirm in the bottom left the build is now 4.4.50 (1404). If so, this should resolve the issue. You might need to run a Rebuild Calendar Display in the DejaOffice Settings > Calendar Settings. This resends the Alarms to the Android.

              NOTE:
If your Android phone displays an "Install blocked" message, do the following:
              1) Tap "Settings".
              2) Check the box for "Unknown sources".
              3) Tap "OK", then restart the installation.

Thanks Thomas! Yeah, I'm pretty good installing from apk files, so no problem.
Will installing this version block future updates from Google Play?

                  Tim,

Any future builds offical or otherwise will directly update without issue. As long as the Build number goes up (which is always the case for new builds).
