Gimme Space, Man (Area Code and Exchange Smashed Together)

I had this problem nine years ago and can't find how I solved it. (I think a tech named Belinda helped me?)

I just got a new PC and re-synced from my Deja Cloud. When all was said and done, the phone numbers in my Palm Desktop read:
    (CCC)XXX-NNNN
(no space between the closing paranthesis in the area code and the exchange).

On my Android, they still show correct:
    (CCC) XXX-NNNN

And on the online CRM they look correct.

    What gives?

More importantly, how to fix please!

    Thanks,

    rjb

In Settings, Phone Format, is "Use US formatting..." set. If so, uncheck it. That worked for me.
    PC: Windows 11, 64 bit
    CompanionLink for Outlook
    Data Manager App: Outlook 365
    Mobile Device: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Thailand;
    Sync Method with CompanionLink: DejaCloud

      Rj,

Disabling Use US formatting should do the trick. If the data was best in DejaCloud you might need to enable a Reread Cloud in the Applications tab (in advanced settings) as well.

        Thanks, folks.

Settings=> Contact Settings => Phone Number Format => "No Formatting" did the trick.

(The options were "Use Android Phone Format" and "No Formatting").

        I lied. That didn't work.

Is this a DJO setting, and Android setting, or a PC setting? I'm not seeing anything specifically called "US Formatting" in DJO...

I have tried "Phone Number Format" in "Contact Settings" on both No Formating and Use Android Format. But the issue is how the numbers appear on PD on my PC, not how they are on the phone (they're fine on the phone).

Thanks, let me know if you need screen shots.

            RJ,

The setting is on the PC under the CompanionLink Settings > Advanced > Phone Format Tab at the top. You will likely need to enable a "Reread Cloud" in the Applications tab (in advanced settings) as well. Then run a sync.

Bingo! That did it. As always, thanks Thomas!

Here's a feature request, while we're on the phone... When adding a phone number on the device, it would be great if the "punctuation" keys and the number keys were on the same screen (e.g., the parentheses, the dash, the space...)

We have looked at this several times over the years. We will look again, because sometimes these things change.

My recollection is that the phone number entry is an OS control. That is - we tell Android we are doing a phone number, and Android provides the control. So it is not in our capability to change it.

The assumption is that after entry is complete, the OS then also formats the number - adding the punctuation. This works here in the US where phone numbers have a fixed size of 10 digits. But I think the whole system is less successful in other regions.

We will look again, but I think this is an Android OS function and we can't modify it.

                    I've actually never tried that.

Well, bless my babymakers, that actually worked.
