How syncing of Birthdays works Android <-> Outlook, including Birthday Calendars etc?

    Hi folks (esp Support people)...

So I was looking through my calendar on DejaOffice the other night, and noticed that the birthdays from my Contacts were inconsistent in the Calendar.

I had "Show Birthdays" in the Calendar settings, and I think at some time in the past I had added some birthdays manually.

What I noticed is that some birthdays in the Calendar included a linked contact, some didn't. Some had the "Birthday" category, some did not (I can't recall if the Birthday category was created by DejaOffice or if it was one I created).

Basically, I'd like to normalize all the birthdays in the Calendar, have them all created by ONE mechanism (manually, or Outlook, or DejaOffice), and have them all contain a link to the contact, and appear (with said linked contact) in BOTH Outlook and DejaOffice.

What would you suggest to normalize all the birthdays? If I turned off "Show Birthdays" in DejaOffice, did a sync, then in Outlook removed all birthdays still in the calendar, synced again, then turned "Show Birthdays" back on in DejaCalendar, re-synced... would I have birthdays show up both in Outlook and in DejaOffice, with linked contacts?

If not, how do you suggest I accomplish this goal? I sync with CompanionLink Professional, incidentally.

    Tim,

This would be the case, DejaOffice makes a "Read only" set of Birthday events created from the Birthday Field in the contacts and puts them in a "Birthday" Category.

I believe Outlook does the same thing in generating a birthday Calendar. Your steps would be the best approach as long as Outlook is also generating a Birthday Calendar like DejaOffice, the DejaOffice generated Birthday events would not sync back to Outlook, these are local to the app.

In your Outlook under Calendars on the left, is there a Birthday Calendar listed below your actual Outlook Calendar? And if so, if you select it do Birthday events appear here?

Thanks! I will see if I can get things set up the way I want. :-)

I'll try your suggestion and see what changes; I think some change and some do not, indicating some were adding by DejaOffice, some were not... I'm not sure which is which.
