System Exception on Android 2.2 Froyo, Blue Screen wipeout on PC Windows 7

I have just upgraded my Dell Streak from 1.6 to 2.2. (missed the 2.1 upgrade, Streak was away in Budepest being repaired). Couldn't get Dell Mobile Sync to work with Outlook so am trying DejaOffice - with partial success.

    Watched the setup video -

DejaOffice contacts synchronised 99% but calandar did not synchronise only recurring items synchronised properly and then my PC re-started itself and reported a Blue Screen crash. During synchronisation I got lots of error messages:

About 50 times: System Exception: Buttons - quit/copy log to SD card/Report by LOTA (selected copy log to SD card)

Also during synchronisation and whenever the DejaOffice application is running I repeatedly get the message:

Sorry! The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again: button - Force close.

    Any ideas?

I think there are two things going on here, perhaps related.

First, during the synchronization, DejaOffice engages the Android mount logic to mount Android's SD card to your PC. Since your computer is blue-screening, I assume that the Windows mass storage driver is failing here, probably due to some problem with the SD card.

To fix it I would try formatting the SD card. The option for this is on your Android under Settings -> SD Card & Phone Storage (note that formatting erases all data on the card; make sure you back up any important data first). If that fails, try replacing the card.

Second, the process com.google.process.gapps is for gmail's apps. To fix the crashing problem, follow the instructions here to disable Google sync: http://www.dejaoffice.com/disablegooglesync/

Thanks Ben. I didn't format the SD card but I disabled Googlesync and got no further error messages. (My apologies, I didn't open the set-up wizard or I would have done this earlier. Instructions are very clear.) I selected 'purge and reload all' from the options menu and DejaOffice completed synch in a few minutes and without duplications.

However, DejaOffice still only synch'd the recurring items from my Outlook calendar. Nothing else appears in DejaCalendar and only 3 tasks out of 18 in DejaTasks.

One other point, I selected the 'Tablet Mode' option but only half the Calendar screen appears on my Dell Streak. Works OK in normal mode, but the themes are oversized.

Joe - The tablet mode option is designed to show a split-screen view on your calendar. The left side of the calendar will show the standard day-view; the right side will show details for any selected event.

For the issue where calendar and tasks aren't syncing, here are two things to check:

        1. Make sure your calendar and tasks fall within the date range set in CompanionLink (default is 90 days back).

        2. Make sure your calendar and tasks are in the same Outlook folders you have selected for synchronization in CompanionLink, under the Outlook Folders tab.

Ben - Thanks, I put in some appointments and see the split-screen feature - good.

DejaOffice Calendar and Tasks are within the date range (the default is unchanged at 90 days). The problem is in my Outlook folders (MS Office Outlook 2003: SP3)

The folder selections for synchronisation in CompanionLink appear to be OK but I have located two Outlook Today/Personal Folders (and also two Archive folders). Although the properties (filenames and paths) are the same, the contents are different. This must have happened when I rebuilt my files after my laptop was stolen.

CompanionLink is taking contents from the second folder. I can see that the second Calendar has no appointments and the number of contacts, tasks etc. matches. I'm familiar with Windows and DOS too, but Outlook is a mystery to me.
