When moving from one iPhone to another - how to migrate data?

When upgrading an iPhone to a newer one, regular iTunes backup/restore does not seem to include DejaOffice data. What is the right way to move the data (Notes, Calendar, Contacts, etc.)? Is it only possible via CompanionLink? Would make sense not to have to use anything other than native iTunes backup...

found one way...

I guess I found one way:

1. back up the old phone using DejaOffice backup feature,
2. email the backup to yourself,
3. open backup in email on the new phone and copy it to DejaOffice on that phone
4. DejaOffice sees the backup file and uses it to restore data.

Is that the best recommended way?

ygulko, welcome to the forums.

That is one way to do it.

iPhone Apps are sandboxed, so there isn't really a data file, and it can't be moved to another phone. This is an Apple OS thing.

So 1. Backup and Restore, which you found.

Or 2. Set up DejaCloud Sync, and sync to the DejaCloud, and then grab from the cloud on your new phone.

Or 3. Use CompanionLink PC Sync to move everything to Outlook via Wi-Fi or USB, and then sync to the new phone.

Both DejaCloud and CompanionLink will run free for 14 days and you can use this for data transfer. CompanionLink makes their money (and development for DejaOffice) by selling PC Sync tools, so please consider that software purchase are key to getting software development.

Thank you. I tried option 3 first and the results were not 100%, i.e. the categories were messed up, etc. Option 1 did the trick however.

Once you've logged in with your Apple ID, you'll be asked whether you want to set your iPhone up as a brand new iPhone, or if you'd like to restore an existing backup via iTunes or iCloud. From here, select either Backup from iCloud or Backup from iTunes and select the most recent backup from your old iPhone.

This is not a way to move DejaOffice to a new phone.

Apple rules require that we store our date outside the "sandbox" of Apple rules. For that reason, DejaOffice data is NOT backed up by iCloud or Backup from iTunes. So you CANNOT move DejaOffice data using Apple tools.
