I can easily add an attachment to a CONTACT, but I don't seem to be able to open that attachment. Do I need to change a setting? This is true on both my android phone and windows laptop

We would just sync the Attachment, to open it you would need the corresponding program that reads the file type. What type of File are you attaching on the Mobile?
