Task recurring fixed period after previous completion

I've just downloaded DejaOffice PC CRM Standalone (DPC) to test as a possible replacement for Palm Desktop (which is now refusing to run on my Windows PC).

One thing I've immediately noticed is that it appears to be impossible to set a task to recur a fixed period after the previous completion.

For example, I might want to set a task to remind me to clean a filter every, say, 4 weeks. Suppose I am remiss and fail to clean it on the due date of 1st March but only perform the task on, say, 8th March. I would then want the next due date to be 5th April (4 weeks after the actual cleaning date) and not the 29th March (4 weeks after the intended cleaning date) that DPC assumes.

Is there any chance of this feature being added? [It is present in Palm Desktop and I use it frequently.]

Rather bizzarely, I have just looked at my previous, very rare, postings on this forum. I note that back in September 2014 I requested precisely this function for the Windows Phone version of DejaOffice and it was indicated that it would be added in the next release. (To the best of my recollecction it never was!)

    DGM,

I suppose I am still not completely clear on what you want here. A Task can have a Due Date an Alarm separately, but as with any CRM a Recurring Tasks recur on a set Day or Date in a pattern, we do not have any options to have a recurring tasks recur on different random days, this would be more inline with single instance tasks set for each month on the day you want them to appear. When you complete a recurring Tasks it will generate a next instance on the next date the recurrence pattern is set for.

If there is some kind of pattern IE on every 2nd month it is on one day consistently an every 3rd Month its on a different one consistently you can just make 2 different recurring tasks for that.

We do have a Rollover option in the Task settings which can Roll Over Over Due tasks that you set and don't complete,

      Thank you for responding.

I think I understand the permissible recurrence patterns for tasks and also your comments about having multiple recurring tasks if, say, I wanted a task to happen on the 10th of Jan, Mar, May etc and on the 20th of Feb, Apr, Jun etc.

As regards Roll Over Due tasks; my understanding is that this feature is either set for all tasks or for none - it cannot be selectively selected on a task-by-task basis. If selected it would mean, please correct me if I'm wrong, that every day the due date of all overdue tasks would automatically be changed to that day's date. Because I don't want all overdue task dates to be altered I haven't been able to test what happens when an overdue recurring task is marked as complete.

None of the above meet my desires! I fully accept that I may be alone requesting this feature in DejaOffice products. However, this feature was in Palm Desktop and I have seen similar requests for other products (e.g. see https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/...us/m-p/3979398). The microsoft link perhaps explains the requirement more understandably than I managed.

There are workarounds in DejaOffice that meet my requirement but, as with all workarounds, they are not as convenient as could be desired.
