Supporting Franklin Covey PlanPlus products

I am a long time (10+ years) user of the Franklin Planner series of planners, and specially liked it when I had a simple USB sync to PalmOS devices. With the PalmOS ending, I tried moving to various platforms like WinMobile, and considered Blackberry, iPhone, but have concluded that my best luck for longevity may be Android. DejaOffice seems to be the first solution that address the sync issues with Android, but do you intend on supporting synchronizing FC-style tasks? On your roadmap I see that you intend on supporting the task priorities, but will CompanionLink actually sync those priorities between DejaOffice and PlanPlus?
Q2 - Will you be supporting PlanPlus for Outlook or also PlanPlus for Windows? I use the Windows version, it would be great if I don't have to transfer all my info to MS-Outlook just to sync with the phone.
Q3 - Will you support the additional PlanPlus apps like Daily Notes, Notes, Journal, etc....

I guess if any of the answers are No then they become my feature requests...

I too, cut my teeth on Franklin Planners. I talk to my developers and their eyes roll. But I'm passionate. This is important stuff.

We definitely plan to support Task Categories A2, B1, C3 very soon, before August, on both iPhone and Android. Also supported will be direct sync of Task Priority to PlanPlus for Outlook. PlanPlus for Outlook (PPO) is an Outlook Plugin, so we can support it using the Outlook API. To the extent that Outlook is extended, this is our best avenue and I'll look into Daily Notes etc., through Outlook. I'll make a feature request to be sure we assess all the available compatibility to align our product.

Thank you, this is great news. FranklinCovey has not kept up with new innovations, and I think your solution really address a significant user base looking for a solution. I look forward to your upcoming updates!

Any Status Update?

I am completely frustrated with Franklin Covey's lack of technological awarness. I have used there systems for decades and was one of their original users of their old Ascend system. Finding a system for the android market that allows each task to be categorized with an "A", "B" or "C" and a numerical subcategory [1,2,3 etc.] that denotes its importance has been impossible.

Do you have any update as to when your program will be available with these features and will it automatically transder the tasks to the next day should they not be completed?

Still at least a month away prevail. We've got sidetracked into some sync issues with the native Contacts and Calendar. But it's definitely in the plan.

I just came across this thread and am eager to see the android integration. Aside from Exchange Syncing, I had two other apps holding me back from the Android phones which I really want to use.

Audible and PlanPlus software the rest for me is fluff. Audible has a working version published though not official yet.

This stuff affects my day to day work productivity. The rest of the software out there is wonderful but not something keeping me from this awesome platform.

Planner/Smartphone Solution?

I'm new here, and quite an old timer trying to keep up with the latest new tech. I've been in the same business for 20 years. Don't laugh too hard, but we are still using Palm 515s with Franklin Covey 4.1 Planner software easily synced with our desktop network. It is an indispensable tool for running my business, and we would be lost without it. I've been a FC advocate since 1987, and have been scouring E-bay for used Palm 515s to keep our data file alive rather than go through all the nightmares I read about in these forums. However, these relics are getting harder to find.
Lately, I've had some glitches when we sync with the desktops (nothing serious) but would eventually like to have this planner software on our cell phones (mine is a three year old relic without a contract, and does not need an internet data plan.) Is there even a remote possibility that this dream world can still exist? You know - the good old days - when you used these tools to run our companies, and not distract ourselves with the gadgetry.
We are looking for a phone/software solution in one device. Kind of like the Palm Treo, but looking that direction was not encouraging. Willing to switch platforms, but really stuck on FC's ABC123, and forwarding tasks/notes without retyping, global search, and all the other really nice things FC used to do.
Wake-up call was when someone said, "Can you imagine anyone looking up a phone number in a PDA, and punching it into their phone? While driving??? Who still does that?"

I also am desperately looking for an app that will sync my FC planner software with my android. Deja office seems like it might be my best bet. Like viajero9, I am using Plan Plus for windows, not the Outlook version, and would really like to be able to sync to it directly. Truth be told, I am still using Franklin Planner 8.1, because I didn't like a whole bunch of their changes in Plan Plus (e.x. totally wiping out the original records of old tasks when forwarding them). I'd *really* love it if I could sync directly from *that*, but I realize that I may be one of the only people left in the world using it.

I've been following this thread for a few months and am wondering what your status is. Any updates?

I believe both products were discontinued several years ago and as I recall they are not compatible with Windows Vista or Windows 7. Our sole support plan currently is for PlanPlus for Outlook, which itself is not yet compatible with Outlook 2010, only Outlook 2007.

Are there any features we can implement only on the phone side that would suit your needs? We could accommodate by synchronizing to normal Outlook 2010, Palm Desktop 6.2 or even Pimlical.

FC Planner support

I'm definitely sorry to hear that. I think the old FC program kept a great deal of the old paper planner we all loved, but their newer iterations are, in my view, of somewhat lesser quality. However, I can't say I'm surprised. As you note, FC Planner 8.1 is not quite fully compatible with anything modern and I had a devil of a time getting it to work with my Vista laptop and syncing with a succession of Treo devices. But I did get it to work. At this point I'm starting to think I'm finally out of luck.

What variant of FC do you expect to sync with? When do you expect this version of DejaOffice to be available?

Alternatively, is there another desktop program that you would recommend that you *can* sync with that allows the A-B-C && 1-2-3-etc. prioritization of tasks, and also the record-keeping functionality of not deleting old tasks that are completed / cancelled / forwarded (so you can still tell in the future what tasks *were* on that day)?

Also - so will Contact History that will hold completed tasks.

So you are saying in addition, the Calendar should be able to show completed tasks for a given day. That will be easy.

I'll make a note of it. We'll be allowing the A2/B1 functionality in Outlook and Palm Desktop simply by using the Subject line.

I currently use PlanPlus (whatever the most recent version is) with Outlook 2010. I know, not supported, but most of the features work just fine. I tried to use DejaOffice with my NexusOne (Froyo 2.2). The app looks fine on the phone and on the PC. But, the sync is broken. When starting the sync from the phone, the computer does not respond. I have now uninstalled it and have exhausted the trial period. Would really like this to work. Where am i going wrong?

I am a long time FranklinCovey user, even when it was just Franklin and the s/w was Ascend. I rue the day I switched from Ascend because it has been a downhill slide since then. I think DejaTasks with the Franklin priorities is pretty close right now to being a good product for us old Franklin groupies. First fix the sorting, I want to sort first by due date, then by the A's, B's and C's. Right now I have to put A01, A02 as the first part of the task wording to help sort but that is not always successful (I have also posted on just the sorting previously). Having a drag to assign priorities would also be cool as previously mentioned.
