Sync Your Data with DejaOffice

DejaOffice can work with the existing contacts and calendar data on your Android device, or you can use CompanionLink to sync computer data (Outlook, ACT!, Palm Desktop, Lotus Notes, and more) directly with DejaOffice via USB, Wi-Fi, or Secure Hosted Wireless sync.

Sync DejaOffice with the native Android databases and Google

DejaOffice gives you the ability to integrate DejaOffice data with the native Android contacts and calendar databases. This allows DejaOffice to use contacts and calendar data already present on the device or in Google.

To enable integration with the native Android databases, tap the 'Settings' icon on the DejaOffice Home screen, then choose 'Sync Settings'.

Check the two boxes labeled 'Sync with Android Contacts/Calendar App'. This will ensure that going forward, any changes you make in DejaOffice will show up in the native apps.

You can also select the phone account that DejaOffice will sync data with. Android can store contacts/calendar data under multiple different "accounts" (such as a local phone account and a Google account). You must choose one account to sync with DejaOffice.

The 'Read Android Data' button forces DejaOffice to manually scan and synchronize any changes with the native apps. This function happens automatically as you make changes, but you may have to manually sync up the first time you use DejaOffice.

Note:
While DejaOffice does give you the ability to sync contacts and calendar from the native databases, the limitations of the Android contacts and calendar apps may compromise the integrity of your data. Syncing with the native databases can also add to the sync time. The best way to sync contacts and calendar is with CompanionLink. Syncing with CompanionLink supports more fields and features such as categories and contact linking.

Sync using CompanionLink (USB)

Use CompanionLink to sync contacts, calendar, tasks and memos to DejaOffice from your computer via USB. To get started, just follow the steps below:

  1. Configure DejaOffice for USB sync. Go to Settings > Sync Settings > Sync Type and select "USB Sync (Mass Storage Mode)".
  2. Open CompanionLink on your computer (do not hit Synchronize).
  3. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable, open DejaOffice, and tap Sync from the DejaOffice Home Screen.
  4. CompanionLink will begin the synchronization process on the computer. Wait for CompanionLink to finish syncing.
  5. Once CompanionLink has finished the synchronization process on the computer, you can tap OK in DejaOffice to complete the sync. Allow for a few minutes while DejaOffice processes the newly synced data.

Sync using CompanionLink (Wi-Fi)

Use CompanionLink to sync contacts, calendar, tasks and notes to DejaOffice from your computer via a local wi-fi connection. Note: this requires a local Wi-Fi network that both the computer and Android device can connect to. Your computer can connect via LAN as long as it is on the same local network as the phone. To get started, just follow the steps below:

  1. Configure DejaOffice for Wi-Fi sync. Go to Settings > Sync Settings > Sync Type, select "Local Wi-Fi Sync" then tap "Wi-Fi Settings".
  2. From this screen, you should see an IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.101) and a Device Name. Take note of this.
  3. Open CompanionLink on the computer and select "Android (Wi-Fi Sync)" as your sync target.
  4. In CompanionLink, tap "Android Settings". Enter the IP address and device name given in DejaOffice, and select auto-sync (optional).
  5. Tap the "Synchronize" button in CompanionLink. If autosync is enabled, CompanionLink will attempt to sync with the device periodically when connected to the Wi-Fi network.

Sync using CompanionLink (Secure Hosted Wireless)

Use CompanionLink to sync contacts, calendar, tasks and notes to DejaOffice from your computer via CompanionLink's Secure Hosted Wireless sync service ($9.95/month).

  1. Open CompanionLink on the computer and select "Android (CL Secure Hosted Wireless sync)" as your sync target.
  2. In the resulting pop up menu in CompanionLink, create a username and password and enter your payment information.
  3. Tap "Synchronize" in CompanionLink. This will sync your computer data with our secure servers.
  4. Configure DejaOffice for Secure Hosted sync. Go to Settings>Sync Settings>Sync Type, select "CL Secure Hosted Sync" then tap "CL Secure Hosted Sync Settings".
  5. From this screen, enter the same username and password you configured earlier.
  6. From the DejaOffice home screen, tap Sync.
