Im using DJO on Samsung A3-2017 with Android 8. Am I affected?

• November 2021: Any syncing using USB by November 2021 will need CompanionLink 9 Build 9040 or higher to sync.

Maybe DJO could clarify this on the webpage AND check in DJO on the phone, if it runs on an affected Android release.

(Yes, my phone is old, but working and I don't want to spend time to change anything now. Never change a running system ... ;-)

As of November 2021 Android is no longer allowing the storage permission to access the current location of the Database folder for DejaOffice. Anyone using USB sync will need the update to version 9 to continue syncing via USB. Wifi sync and DejaCloud sync will be uneffected by this change.

The latest version of DejaOffice that was posted Monday does have some messaging inform USB syncs if PC build is CompanionLink is lower than the required version. We are also sending out Email's to inform people before the deadline.

may I once more turn your attention to my concrete situation:

If your Android is using Android OS 11

So I don't think, my phone with Android 8 will be affected directy, BUT I don't know if DJO (!) does some changes internally and therefore (because of the changes in DJO) I will be affected and need to change my quite old - but well running - PC installation of CL 6052.

Could you please clarify this?

Are users with Android up to V 10 affected or not - even in/after Nov 2021?

Michael,

If you disable Automatic App Updates in the Google Play Store on the Android and do Not update DejaOffice any more, you will be un-effected by this change for an OS lower than 11.

However, to prevent people from not being able to sync, in a future DejaOffice update between now and November, an automatic process will run to internally move the database folder to the new storage folder location being required by Android. When this folder is moved, any CompanionLink older than build 9040 will not know where to find the new data folder and not be able to connect to the right spot to sync. So anyone on any OS that updates to the build that will shift the data folder would need the latest version of CompanionLink as well to continue to sync via USB.

thank you. Now it's clear.

I plan to upgrade CL in Sept or Oct to V9. So after this I will not see any change when DO will do the internal change of the storage location, will I?

There would be no visible change currently, but we might try to add some messaging when the time comes. We do update the Release Notes in both the App and on the Play Store and this will be item 1 when it changes.

There seems to be a mistake in your data, as I am registered for CL 6 pro (and not CL 5 Outlook).

Is there any special update available for PRO, too?

Do I have to update CL on my PC right after purchased the update or might I still use CL 6 till I have more time to give it a try?

Your purchase was for CompanionLink 5 for Outlook. It looks like you got a free update to CompanionLink 6 when it came out.

The link will be good for a long time. But if you use USB sync with Android, you will need to be on Build 9044 or higher by November if Google follows through with their announcement.
