    Sync with Android Contacts

I just got a Samsung Replenish thru Sprint. Downloaded DJO no problem. Need to sync Outlook from my PC, but for reasons of security in my job, I can't do it thru a secured server - must be done by USB. The info linked fine to the phone - it's all there in DJO, and I can see it and access it. But I can't get it to transfer into the native contacts and calendar programs of the phone. Tried the various sync setups both in DJO and in CompanionLink. Is it possible to get all the Outlook info into the native programs without going thru MS Exchange or GMail?

    Hello JMP,

I have a few suggestions here.
    1. Make sure you check the setup guides on the CompanionLink and DejaOffice websites. They are very helpful.

DejaOffice can work with your existing contacts and calendar data on the phone, or you can use CompanionLink to sync computer data (Outlook, Act!, Palm Desktop and more) directly with DejaOffice via USB, Wi-Fi, or DejaCloud Sync

    1. As far as I can tell your phone uses Android OS 2.2 which in genreal we support USB Sync so you should be OK there.
-However the Replenish is a relatively new device and as far as I can tell we do not have one in the lab. So I can't provide specific "I know this works feedback".

Please verify you have gone through our published tutorials and let me know if you are still having configuration problems.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry I'm such a dunce. I've been thru the tutorials so many times I have them memorized. I think where I'm getting in screwed up is that I don't have a gmail or ms exchange account. The graphic shows "companionlink@gmail.com", and when I try to make the transfer, it always prompts me to set up an account. Because of who I work for, I'm not allowed to have my data transmitted over a host server, so I can't set up one of these accounts. Is there no way to make the data that's already in DJO in my phone simply transfer to the native programs without doing it over a secure host?

        Hello JMP,
That should not be a problem. We always recommend turning off the Contacts and Calnder Sync with the Gmail account you setup and put on the phone. So no confidential data ends up going back to Google.
Android uses the term "Accounts" like other phones would use the term "database". Just turn off the Google Sync option and you should be fine.

Thanks. You saved an expensive phone from a watery grave. Contacts loaded to Android native app. Calendar did not, but it's progress. So if my google email account says "sync is off", it won't ever transfer info thru gmail? I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but this is a big deal to my company.

JMP - I understand why this is a big deal. As long as the setting is set to not Sync it will not sync.
