Can no longer see all my Outlook/DJO contacts in native Android Contacts

Droid X running Android v2.3.3 (Gingerbread) OS on Verizon. Companion Link for Outlook(CLO) v4044 installed. Currently on DJO v1.11.8.

After updated to Gingerbread (GB), was happy I could sort native Contact list by last name (have been waiting for that!). However, my phone was sluggish and had been exhibiting some other odd behavior since updating. After research online, the recurring suggestion was that a Factory Data Reset was needed to clear up these issues. So I did that. Phone works great except now, I can only see 7 of my 192 contacts in the native app.

I noticed there is now a Display Options in the native app in Android OS v2.3.3. I have 3 "accounts" listed under this option to select which contacts to view: Google (gmail), Backup Assistant (Phone), Preset (Verizon Wireless). Under each of these there are "Groups" which can be checked/unchecked to display contacts. None of the Google or Preset boxes make a difference in what I see in the list. Under the Backup Assistant/Phone I have three Groups: Miscellaneous, My Contacts, and All Other Contacts. The 7 contacts I can see in the native app are tied to the Miscellaneous Group which aligns with the DJO/Outlook Category they are in. And they appear/disappear upon checking/unchecking that box. The other two Groups have no effect either

In DJO, I have the "Sync with Android Contacts App" box checked, as well as the "Sync DejaOffice contact categories to Android contact groups" box checked. I have 3 choices of Contact Account to sync with (gmail, Phone, and Verizon Wireless). I have Phone selected. For "Sync selected contact categories" I have "All Categories" selected.

Also, I can see some of my other contacts (labeled with different categories) in the native "Recent" calls along with their contact info and even edit it, but can't see it in the Contact list. So it appears as though my Contacts are all still in the native app, but I just can't see them in the list view.

I have tried "Purge and Reload" from CLO and various other things, but nothing has worked.

I'm not sure if this is a DJO issue or an Android issue (or a setup issue), but I thought if I posted here, maybe someone could tell me that much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks in advance.

      Hello Boulds,

I am going to try and look at this today. Apologies for the delay. The short answer is the data is there and this is likely a data formatting issue. That is why you can see the info on the recent calls section of the Android. To call this an Android issue or a CompanionLink issue is kinda moot because it is up to us to figure out what is going on and fix it. I say that meaning that Android platform changes and we have to change right with it.

        Boulds,

If you do not have any critical data in Native Contacts that you cant afford to lose some users have had success with completely deleting their Android Contacts data and then doing a Purge and Reload. Some have also chosen to restore their Android to Factory defaults. "Warning! - That will delete all data on your phone and bring to a fresh out of the box state.

I consider both of those solutions to be like smashing a gnat with sledge hammer. But some people have different priorities.

What method do I use to delete all of my Android Contacts? I thought I could go in the Applications manager under Contacts Storage and Clear Data...but that button is greyed out.

          Thanks

Maybe try to force stop the app? You may not be able to erase data that the OS is accessing in memory.
I would also kill the DejaOffice App and any others that may be accessing the Contacts database.

I killed all apps. Then attempted a force stop on the Contacts Storage app (looked like it worked), but the Clear Data button is still greyed out. I went to the Contacts app and was able to press the Clear Data button, but this didn't seem to do much. Then I tried to Force Stop the Contacts App and immediately Force Stop the Contacts Storage app, but Clear Data button on Storage app is still greyed out. I really don't want to have to do a Factory Reset again...because I think that was part of the reason I got into this situation. Plus it creates a lot more work to restore all the other things it wipes. Any other ideas?

              Thanks.

EDIT: It looks like DJO starts running again right after I kill it. Is there any way to keep it from running -- short of uninstalling it?

You can force stop it int Application manager. But if it starts back up again you will probably need to just uninstall.

                  Thomas,

Ended up Factory Data Reset...I think the last time I did the FDR (after updating to Gingerbread) I messed this up during setting the phone up. Anyway, Android Contacts are good to go now...

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

                    Boulds,

Some phone's and OS's are highly resistant to deleting contacts en masse. The factory reset was going to be my next suggestion. Not fun, but effective...
I am glad to hear things are getting back on track. Let us know if you need any additional assistance.
