Cannot read button labels - how to change?

Whether dark background (dark buttons with black text [vice versa?]), or light background (grey buttons with white text), I cannot read the button text.

How can I change the colour scheme to use a higher contrast combination for button and label colours?

    bs27975,

Try the System Font option. In DejaOffice tap Settings and General Setting. At the top select Font at the top. Tap the Typeface and try System font. This is a bit bolder. There are also some Font Size options here, are they all set to large?

In the same General Settings, also check the UI Design style at the bottom. 5 and lower had some older icons and such.

Thanks for the excellent / precise instructions.

Was able to change to system font, to slight change, but not nearly enough.

Sizes were all set to 'Delightful'. I set to custom, and chose largest size throughout, there, but no noticeable change when I hit 'Sync' for example. I know 'cancel is there' but the foreground / background difference is so slight, I can't read the button.

Have you any other suggestions - I can't use the app if I can't read the button / prompts?

What Model of Mobile device are you using? IE Pixel 2\3\4, Galaxy device, etc? These are currently the only settings to control the font sizes\display, but I will do some testing locally if I can get your device info.

          (Apologies for the delay.)

Samsung Captivate Glide <- wp link

You can see the entire button is the same colour, yet if you press the button the label then shows. (Slide finger off the button, the colour returns to shown, and button is not effected. Thus I can see that there is indeed a button label there, it's just the same colour as the button itself.)

          Curious - keep getting
          Error
! Image resize failed due to your image library not having support for this image type
          OK

When I tried to upload the downsampled screenshots above.

            bs27975,

Well it looks like this might be related to the highest OS available on this phone being 4.0.4, we still offer external downloads that would install on this OS, but due to changes with the Android Target SDK requirements, the lowest OS the latest version of DejaOffice supports is Android OS 7. There are further UI upgrades and changes in the latest version of DejaOffice 4.4.50 (1428). I would imagine if you checked Settings > About your version would be somewhere around 4.4.24 (1167). Can you confirm?

Nope, this is Gingerbread - 2.3.5.

Although, I don't imagine any version wherein the button label and colour were the same, rendering the text invisible, is likely / intended.

The phone ain't broke, it does what it does and what I need it to do. Not upgradeable, and Google intentionally stopped syncing to such old versions. [Not suggesting you're saying anything otherwise.]

Have had DejaOffice forever - not used it much, but was always there in my kit bag. Only just noticing button text invisible. Thus the OP.

              DejaOffice says 4.1.7 (925)

It would not be intended but more so the point is we have no way to make updates to DejaOffice for an Android OS that old and likely this issue is resolved or non existent in the current version of DejaOffice.

Right, agreed, point of OP was for any ideas as to how to be able to see button labels. Your responses confirm that should not be the case - that confirmation is appreciated.

Have found https://www.dejaoffice.com/androidapp/ - could you look up what version of DejaOffice there is the last / latest able to support Gingerbread? (2.3.5)

We do have all previous version of DejaOffice in APK format which is what Android Apps are installed from. You could compare the version it lists on the mobile under About, then try the next highest build, you might get a few higher which might resolve the issue. Here is a link to the old builds:

                    https://www.dejaoffice.com/androidapp/releasenotes.html

Just tap the hyperlinked build number from the mobile, download the file and tap the APK to run the update. Worse case it will tell you the OS doesn't support the version you tried, but if you move one build number forward from your current one and so one, it should at least get you to the most recent one possible for that OS.

Did find that link, but didn't see any notations as to what Android levels any particular version does/n't support. Is there any dejaoffice / android version cross-listing anywhere?

I do not have such a list unfortunately, the best way forward would be to find the one that's one build higher than your current install and try that one. I can help with a direct link to the next highest if you provide your current version.

I can see from https://www.dejaoffice.com/androidapp/releasenotes.html that would be https://www.dejaoffice.com/androidap...e2_1_8_261.apk

IT looks like this is the next build:

                            DejaOffice v4.2.1 (942) (11/11/16)

                              [Search key: Gingerbread, 2.3.5]

                              Was able to install 4.3.6 (1002) (7/24/17), but not 4.3.7 (1018) (12/18/17), from https://www.dejaoffice.com/androidapp/releasenotes.html

Alas, no change in button colours.

Thanks for doing what you can / as best as can be done, at this late date / old version. Appreciated.
